How Do Horizontal Band Sealers Work?

Horizontal band sealers are a type of sealing machine that uses a horizontal conveyor belt to move products through the sealing area. The sealing area is where the horizontal sealer's heating element meets the product, melting the plastic and forming a seal. There are two types of horizontal band sealers: intermittent or the continuous. Intermittent sealers are operated manually, meaning that an operator must stop the conveyor belt and start it again after each sealing cycle. Band type sealers, on the other hand, can operate automatically, without the need for an operator to stop and start the conveyor belt. 

Uses a Horizontal Conveyor Belt

These sealers are often used to seal packages of food, medical supplies, and other types of products. They are an efficient way to seal large numbers of packages quickly and with a consistent seal. Horizontal type band sealing uses a type of sealing machine that employs a horizontal conveyor belt to move product through the sealing area. The sealing area is where the horizontal sealer's heating element meets the product, melting the plastic and forming a secure and lasting seal. 

Operate Automatically

Because intermittent sealers are operated manually, this can mean an increase in labor costs that may affect a business’s decision when buying this type of machine. Continuous horizontal band sealers, on the other hand will operate automatically, potentially saving a business money on labor expenses.  They are often used to seal packages of food, medical supplies, and other types of products. They are an efficient way to seal large numbers of packages quickly and with a consistent seal. They are very efficient and effective at melting a plastic film around the product being sealed. 

Intermittent or Continuous

Melted plastic forms an excellent and strong bond around the edges of a package, creating an airtight and watertight seal. They can be used to seal a variety of different types of packages, including bags, pouches, trays, and more.
